The Failure of Multiculturalism in Northern Europe
April 21, 2026 · Frisian News
Integration programs across Scandinavia and the Low Countries have produced poor results, with segregated neighborhoods and social tension growing despite decades of official policy. Voters in these regions now reject the multicultural consensus and elect governments that demand faster assimilation.
Voters responded. Since 2020, right-wing parties that reject the multicultural consensus have won elections across the region. Sweden's Democrats, the Netherlands' PVV, and Denmark's People's Party now shape law. They do not ask for ethnic purity or mass deportation. They demand faster assimilation, tougher language tests, and an end to separate integration tracks. They insist that newcomers accept local values or go home. These parties won not because Swedes or Dutch became cruel, but because the old approach produced the opposite of what it promised. Harmony requires shared culture. Officials ignored this for decades.
Wat nou gaat beteure? Stockholm en Amsterdam spalje miljunen yn huzen, skoallen en jobbeprogramma's foar buertenwiken fan lege komôf. Mar sûnder ferwaakting fan yntegraaasje, sûnder taalflytses, sûnder sosjale kontre, sille dizze investearrings wer swak beslagge. De swakke side fan it multikulturele model wie net dat it te idealistyk wie. It wie dat it net earnsich woe. It joech jilden foar groepen yn stee fan oan minsken. It siede dat respekt en tachtichheid sels groeie soene sûnder in skerp ferwiting. Dat waard wrang. Nije gearbedsjes waarmei lannen jûnsentendearre selle efkes mei sege werjûn.
