A federal judge in Manhattan sentenced real-estate brothers Oren, Alon and Tal Alexander to 30 years each on October 27, after a jury convicted all three on all 10 sex-trafficking counts in March. Prosecutors said more than 70 women came forward with accounts of assault spanning more than a decade.
Thirty years each. On October 27, a federal judge in Manhattan sentenced brothers Oren, Alon and Tal Alexander to three decades in prison for sex trafficking, closing a case that began with civil lawsuits first reported by The Real Deal nearly two years before sentencing. A jury convicted all three on all 10 criminal counts in March, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and multiple charges of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion.
Prosecutors at the U.S. Attorney's Office said more than 70 women came forward with accounts of assault. During a five-week trial, 11 women testified that the brothers lured them with gifts and luxury travel to destinations including Aspen and the Bahamas, then drugged them before the attacks. Prosecutors' court filings state the conduct began as early as 2001 or 2002, when the three were still in high school.
The brothers built their public standing in luxury real estate. Tal Alexander, 40, and his brother Oren Alexander, 39, had worked for Douglas Elliman, where clients included Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Tal and Oren founded their own New York firm, Official, in 2022. Alon held an executive role at Kent Security, the family's private security company. They were not arrested until December 2024, CBS News reported.
The sentencing hearing lasted about six hours. Twelve women delivered victim impact statements. Maya Miller told the court that Tal Alexander raped her in the Hamptons in 2014. "I carry a quiet funeral within me for the person I might've become if this never happened to me," she said. A woman using the pseudonym Isa Brooks said she was raped by Tal and Alon when she was 16. "The reverberations of this have lasted half my life," Brooks told the court. Many victims asked Judge Valerie Caproni to impose the maximum: life in prison.
Prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney's Office argued for life sentences, writing in their sentencing memorandum that the brothers had "spent years designing, executing, and perfecting their playbook of luring victims with promises of luxury, drugging victims so they could not resist, and then forcibly raping them." An indictment stated the brothers sometimes photographed victims during the assaults. Defense lawyers asked for 15 years, the minimum, and described the men as devoted fathers whose families would suffer. Caproni sentenced each to 30 years and called the life term "draconian," while describing the brothers' behaviour as "monstrous."
All three addressed the court and maintained their innocence. Tal Alexander said he and his brothers had a "work-hard, play-hard mentality" and acknowledged his behaviour had "hurt people's feelings." Caproni was direct. "You did not have to stand up and say you've never raped anyone," she told them. "That's a lie and you know it." She questioned how anyone who had never acknowledged his crimes could be rehabilitated.
Caproni also ordered 10 years of supervised release for each brother. She ordered Oren and Alon to pay $300,000 each in fines and Tal $350,000. Oren, also convicted of distributing child sex abuse material of a 17-year-old girl in 2009, was ordered to pay an additional $50,000, ABC News reported.
The brothers plan to appeal, and The Real Deal reported that their family hired attorney Alan Dershowitz to seek a presidential pardon. Dozens of civil lawsuits remain pending.
The public prominence lasted years. The accountability took one morning.
